a-rt.uk is delighted to present another splendid virtual show, “Beyond The Path” by four immensely talented artists Ali Asghar, Mahnoor Asad, Talha Khan and Seema Parveen. The artists in this particular show are using traditional techniques to create something unconventional. They have portrayed multi layered works with intricate details to go beyond the orthodox and delve into intrinsic directions. Ali Asghar adds conflict and harmony within his compositions. He pursues to ask the unconventional questions and remonstrance against universe and the creator. Mahnoor Asad in her intricate works questions ‘life’ and the journey of good and bad aspects which come with this journey. Living in another reality comes with it’s pros and cons, but this is what makes her feel alive and functioning and helps her better understand this incredible journey. Talha Khan demonstrates in his paintings through various objects the concept of “vanity of earthly life”, that the object didn’t vanish but its purpose is no longer of use. Seema Parveen’s works are about development of feelings which she has ideally represented on a wasli with layers and layers of washes which represents how individuals overlap feelings and emotions.

My technique, though traditional, narrates a slightly unconventional idea. I mostly work with large-scale miniature Paintings which reveal a dialogue between man and his creator. I try to aptly juxtapose conflict and harmony within my compositions,  where I use certain set of colours that depict serene figures while serving as the backdrop for  different elements and backgrounds that I have developed. I try to pursue the unconventional questions and remonstrance against universe and the creator. Moreover Explorations and experimentations with different materials have always been one of my favourite sectors working on. Therefore sometimes my works are produced with the perception of creating new surfaces too in relevance to the required circumstance and idea,  however, on parallel I also work on conventional and unconventional treatment of certain produced surfaces too in regard to how possibly can it be worked on and how  can it be explored and developed in regards with the idea which obviously dominates.

Mahnoor Asad – Visual Artist

Like an endless rollercoaster ride I see mists rolling across grassy plains blooming with flowers. Twinkling stars falling one by one towards earth, like moths getting to close to a flame, on a backdrop of shattering, burning celestial entities. Am I dreaming or am I awake? Lost in a world between reality and what is pretty much my own private amazement park, I go on a convoluted journey which leaves me amidst unexpected and unexplored places. Places that are not always glittering, beautiful meadows, which within a blink of an eye can shift to scenes of Armageddon with burning fires raging all around me. But these scenes follow me into the land of living and like everyone else I find myself maneuvering around a minefield known as ‘life‘

My work focuses on the process of purpose lost which is demonstrated through various objects under study. The idea of decay depicted here is the subsequent loss of purpose rather than mere death of any relation. The roots of this study are evolved from the theory of Memento mori which reflect mainly upon mortality especially the concept of ‘vanity of earthly life’. However, in this study we will explore the vanity of lost purpose. The different genres under which the objects are being studied for purpose lost are mainly the interplay of different mediums, treatments, chiaroscuro and process.

Seema Parveen – Visual Artist

My artwork accumulates ‘feelings’. Time after time, we layer up experiences that build up into a feeling or a series of feelings. The intensity of these feeling is known through the number of layers we have. The gradual change of the greys in between black and white portrays infinity – infinity of a feeling! Looking past the apparentness of an individual feeling, my work shows the process and the development of feeling, through layers. Multiple washes in the painting represent that the acceptance of a feeling always comes gradually to an individual. The unusual black washes on the wasli paper shows my conscious decision to emphasize on the importance of acceptance of an unusual feeling. The non-objectiveness in most of the paintings, on the other hand, shows the lack of physicality of a feeling, as well as the collective consciousness of the mutual feelings of me and people around me.
